Previous show | Next show Oct 23rd 2002 - Hotel Utah - San Francisco, CA So this shit is second nature to us now. This was our second official show, and even though people said it went better than our first, I found it to be kinda hectic. Hotel Utah is great for smaller, acoustic bands. And although I've played there several times with loud bands, including this night, it's never easy. Acoustically the room is bouncy and strange. So you really have to rely on memory, rather than on what your band actually sounds like at the time you're performing. Memorize your songs, and hope you all play them correctly, cuz you really can't hear yourself. Plus, we were playing during the Monday night open mic. Every week they have a featured artist play for a half hour midway through. And that night it was us. But we had to cut our set short due to set up taking longer than expected. I hate that. Plus, one tends to feel like the open mic audience in general is really just waiting for you to get the hell off the stage, so they can play their one song they've been practicing all week. I understand. I feel that way sometimes too. But anyway, we got through it. No more keyboard problems like the show before. People seemed to dig the sound, and we sold a bunch of cds! Thanks to all y'all for coming to support our blossoming band. This is gonna be the start of a beautiful relationship. I can tell. |
