VARIETY PACK!!
Wed, June 4- El Rio - SF, CA.

Experi-Mental...Yes indeed.

We tried something new this time around with the whole VARIETY PACK!! Thang. Less big bands, with potentially less stress for the organizers, add some djs into the mix, some solo performances, and let all the previous performers in free.

Not as wild and crazy as the last two VPs, but still a bunch of good friends, great performances and a fun Wednesday night. And that's the whole point, right?

We started off the evening with a short little Clevergirl set that felt really easy and good. People said they liked it. Following us was our first Talent Show. Basically an opportunity for some friends who are great solo performers to get up and do their thing. We had Reuben Maness (Mr. Stinky) singin' songs of love and Sade. We had Renee, Joe and Kate from Stymie singin' some serious soul, and then the notorious Ralph Carney as Hans, the German singer/songwriter.

Kickin' the night up a notch was the Hazardous Dukes...one of Karen's personal favorites. They do their country punk thing with crazy licks traded back and forth between guitarists, and a new bass player that kicks butt. Thanks you guys. We only wish it could have been a packed Saturday night for ya.

Ending the evening was DJ MS45 (aka Jodi, the cute bass player). She took us out with some deep house and even extended her set to cover DJ AWOL. Thanks Jodi. You're tops.

Glad to see all of you who came out last night: VARIETY PACK!! Veterans and newbies alike. Thanks for playing, thanks for hangin', thanks for watching. Hope you had fun, and we'll see ya next time.
