Previous show | Next show June 21st 2003 - Brainwash Cafe - San Francisco, CA This was a fun little show to do. No one was there really, but a few key people that made me feel cool. Like Jodi and Sarah. Thanks you guys. But because it was a rather slim audience, I was able to relax and have fun with the one-woman show I was trying to pull off. When I was first told about this show, Patrick Simms, who hosted the evening, called it "Electro Acoustic". Now that, to me, conjured up thoughts of acoustic guitar and some crazy electronic gear co-mingling in pure harmony. I guess I was the only one who thought that was appropriate, cuz the other performers were strictly acoustic. Hmm.....don't know where I went wrong, but whatever. I was there, I had a bunch of gadgets and, well, I set it all up and played my stuff. I really liked it. It was a looping pedal, and guitar and synth and distortion and vocals. I was able to (for the most part) get them to all sync up so it sounded like a bigger band then just me. For my first endeavor into this solo electronic territory, I was very very pleased. Hopefully I'll have a chance to do it again soon. I wanna thank Patrick for not only setting up the show, but also running sound. It really sounded good from where I was sitting, and hopefully the audience thought so too. I also want to mention that I was performing with two really amazing girls. One is the famous Katherine Chase from the now-defunct band Kindness. I was fortunate enough to see them in their glory days as they rocked out in an all-girl, no-bullshit way. But kept their stuff nice and pop-y...the way I like it. So it was a delight to play with With Katherine Chase. The other surprise of the evening was a girl named Terese Taylor. Man, was she freekin' excellent. She came with a drummer and her songs were driving and dark, but catchy and pretty and Cat Powerish with more tap-your-foot groove. She's been playing with this drummer (who's name I forgot) for sometime, never venturing into a bigger band. Which is respectable. But I do wonder how much she would ROCK if she had some amplification and such. Hmmm... well, one can dreamweave, right? Now, back to the band... |
