5th, 2003 - El Rio - San Francisco, CA Terese Taylor (with drummer rob), Carney Ball Johnson, Fix with a Friend, Beautiful Engines, The Nubs. Not necessarily in that order. Takes a strong woman to admit when she doesn't really remember the evening that well. Not due to alcohol. It's common knowledge now that I can only take about two beers a night. But because I took the pictures, and put them up on the website right after the gig. But it's almost two months later as I write this little synopsis. It's all blending together, and I may get my facts a little mixed up. Why am I being so honest? You don't care. So let me tell ya...this was the best show El Rio has ever seen!!! Everyone was there. It was GREAT!!! We had record label scouts pushing contracts in the faces of all the performers, and Rosie and I were made partners at El Rio. No wait. No, that's not right. I don't know. Maybe that happened. I can't remember. Actually I think it was a little slow that night. The weather had just turned pretty cold and crappy, and the bar was a little light in the foot traffic department. But the performers were a great mix of crazy soundtracky stuff by the famous Ralph Carney and friends, the devilish grit of Fix with a Friend (with Rosie behind the drums), the low key, twisted pop of Terese Taylor, the punk mayhem of the Nubs, and the rock adventures of Beautiful Engines. There were a lot of you that we didn't see that night. And that's too bad. It's too bad for us, cuz it's always more fun to have a show with lots of people, than to have one with not so many people. But it's really much sadder for you, cuz you missed out on some quality entertainment at a cool bar. Hey, there's always next time. We'll be around. |
